About "FDR for MS"
Fly, Drive & Ride for MS, Inc., an all volunteer organization, is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to raising funds to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Our Vision:
“We wanted to increase the awareness of Multiple Sclerosis Research and of the role that Cecil Field continues to play in our local area,” says Jane Estes, FDR for MS co-Chairman. “We are always looking to raise funds to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis".
Our History:
Cecil Field & Jacksonville Aviation Authority started the annual AirFest event to help stimulate local awareness of the major role the airport facility has played in the growth and development of Jacksonville. In 2007, the event expanded when the Silverbacks riding club joined forces to modify the existing program by adding motorcycles and cars. Thus, Fly – Drive – Ride became a reality and thousands of fans and local celebrities turned out in support of the initial fund raiser.
Now, the FDR for MS Research includes a festival of family fun with displays of airplanes, cars and motorcycles. Organizers have added a “Kid-Zone”, food vendors, music and educational activities to complement the existing events. The static display of unique aircraft and prestigious classic automobiles line the Cecil Field tarmac providing an up-close opportunity for everyone to see. Free airplane rides will be offered by the Young Eagles for kids between 8-16 years old.
A simultaneous “Poker Run” for the riding enthusiasts winds its way through Jacksonville and concludes at the airfield. Participants will ride to designated locations to collect cards for a “Seven Card Stud” poker hand. The Grand prize for the Poker Run is a Daytona International Speedway ticket package for four (4) with Fun Zone passes for the upcoming Coke Zero 400.
Benefiting MS Research:
All proceeds raised by the Fly, Drive & Ride for MS will go directly into the National MS Research Fund. If you want to support MS Research with a "Tax Deductible" donation, please click the Donations
